Dlink DSL-3680 does not like Apple please help!

[ Edited ]

Hi all

As from the title i'm having dramas with my Dlink DSL-3680 and my Apple products via wireless.

My iPhone,iPad and Macbook pro drop from the wireless connection and can take considerable amount of time to reconect to the internet. They stay connected to router but will not get internet access.

My Xbox is connected via ethernet and has no dramas, my windows PC is connected via wireless and never has a drama plus the Mrs' Android phone is connected via wireless without drama.

So it seems to have a serious problem with Apple products, I switched to TalkTalk last week from BT, when with BT I never had a drama nor did I hardly ever have to go into router settings, so if this is not sorted i'm tempted to bend the knee and go back to BT and let them fleece me somemore.

The Router is currently running on 1.03T Firmware but i'm led to believe I need 1.06T firmware, my router has still not autoupdated even  tho TR-069 is enabled in the advanced settings.

Is there anyway I can download this firmware file so I can add manually? Or maybe even get TalkTalk to do this remotely?

Re: Dlink DSL-3680 does not like Apple please help!

Not sure if my answer applies to your router, but I recently had a similar problem with an iPad 4 and a new DGND4000 Netgear router. I solved it by, in router advanced settings, , disabling WMM. This is a mystrey to me as a non - geek but has to do with the wireless n or e settings or hardware ov different devices. Apple in particular seems to dislike it when WMM is enabled. If you need more details I will try to find the place in my routers settings that I changed, but look for WMM and your Router in Google.

After the reset the iPad was at the same speed as a co located woreless laptop - before i pad was 1mbps vs 7 for the laptop with 7.5 mbps on the ethernet dektop.

Here is a link. \the WMM setting can be seen - try disenabling it and save changes. Do post back if it works!

John

Thank you for your time and I tried it but my roter does not have the option as the link you posted is for the DIR-825 which has the option unlike the DSL-3680. Very frustrating

Crusher

I have perused the other entries within forums and messaged a couple of the OCE' directly and I hope they can sort this.

Any OCE reading this

I would like a firmware update to take me from v1.03T - v1.06T as after looking over the forums the majority of the people who have recieved this update no longer have problems with the DSL-3680 router and Apple products.

Thank you in advance

Hans Landa, It will now be a case of waiting patiently for an OCE to pick this item up.

Re: Dlink DSL-3680 does not like Apple please help!

Hi,

New to the forum & TalkTalk!

I'm having the same issue as the original poster. PC is fine, all other devices are fine, but any apple device is not holding it's connection properly. It says it's connected, but there is no data transfer happening.

Do I need the router to have the firmware update? Or is there another way?

Router is the DSL-3680

Current Firmware Version :v1.03t

Current Firmware Date : 2012/06/28

I'm finding this very fraustrating indeed, espcially as a new customer. Please help.

Thank you in advance for all your assistance.

Terra Hawk, Your firmware is well out of date. Current version is either 1.06 or 1.07. This can be downloaded directly to you by Talk Talk provided your settings are correct. I am not using a 3680 at the moment but if you look around on this site or on the Talktalk Trials site you'll find the settings. I'll see if I can spot the link and add it to this post.

Here is the link to the TalkTalk Labs http://www.talktalk-labs.com/

Look for the update to the 3780 which tells you the setting which needs checking. It was the same for the 3680.

Basically you need to do the following within the routers settings:-

You need TR-069 enabled using the URL http://acs.talktalk.co.uk:7547/ACS-server/ACS

Firmware will be delivered via Remote Management which is normally overnight. Give it 48 hours to be sure.

If you need to know how the get into your router settings please come back.

Thanks for the reply Crusher!

I thought the firmware would have been out of date, this is direct out of the box yesterday & gave it 24hrs to settle in etc before starting to fix the 'apple fault'.

I will take a look around for the settings as it would be great if TalkTalk can sort the firmware for me. If you do find them in the meantime then thank you for the links.

Terra Hawk, I've just added to my earlier post. If the TR69 is set as I described then it could be a case of waiting for the remote session to run. I'm a slightly slow 72 year old.

Thanks Crusher.

All settings are enabled, TR069 was already set up & I double checked the URL. So it's just a case of standing by now for the update.

Thank you for all your help & advice. It's very much appreciated. I will post back once it's updated & if the situation improves.

Hi Crusher,

All sorted today by TT staff after a phone call to them. All apple devices work perfectly after the firmware was updated to 1.12 I think it was.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Pleased to hear the outcome. Pity system did not update automatically. You did well to get prompt service from TalkTalk.
