Why do I see 3 wifi connections for my home broadband ?

When I look at the Wifi networks I can connect to my home broadband connection appears 3 times. I have determined that one of the connections is a 5GHz connection and the other two appear to be 2.6GHz connections. One of these appears with the standard wifi SSID and the other has a 2 at the end ? Is this normal ? Should I change anything ?

Is this a new router you have just received, or one you have been using for some time ?

Are you able to connect to all 3 of the networks using your known password ?

What model of router is it ?

We have had the router for a few months.

The router is a Sagemcom model FAST F5364-3.T8

I can connect to all 3 networks using the same password.

Hmmm, do you have any Wi-Fi extender / repeater device that could be broadcasting that 2nd network ?

No, just the main router and the one PC.

I'm not sure about that then, I didn't think that model of router supported a 'guest network', hopefully someone else here on the community will be able to help.

The staff here should also be able to pick this post up tomorrow and may be able to advise.

One option could be to factory reset the router by holding in the pinhole reset switch on the back for over 10 seconds. The would return the router to its factory settings, but that would also lose any changes you had made to any settings within the router.

No, it doesn't support a guest network. The first thing to try is a factory default of the router, try that & let me know the results. What sort of device are you picking these three SSIDs up on?

I have done the factory reset and no change.

I am seeing the networks on my PC. I am not overly techie so not sure what specifics I can or need to get from it that might help.

Please can you go to a command prompt on your PC & get me the output from these commands, pressing the Enter key after each one:-

Thanks for that, unless there is a bug in these netsh commands, there are only two networks being advertised by your router:-

TALKTALK09BC24 5.4

TALKTALK09BC24

The network "TALKTALK09BC24 2" does not show up unless it has a very low signal strength.

What is very strange is that the network you are connected to "TALKTALK09BC24 5.4" is showing as using channel 0, which is plain wrong.

I think I need to see the output from an independent tool (it is free), do you want me to PM details of this to you?

I will PM you a link for a guide of mine on Wi-Fi interference & initially look at the section called "Are you suffering from interference – prove it first". This section includes full details of Wi-Fi analysers that I recommend for Windows, Windows phone, Android and Apple operating systems. However, I have no way of testing the Apple product. Do not worry about interpreting the results, I will do that for you.

Please post the screenshots that I have requested in my guide (no photos please they can be difficult to read as text can get out of focus when zoomed), from the analyser you are using (also in my attached guide). Please ensure that the analyser window is maximised (if Windows) before taking the screenshots & upload them via the "Insert Photos" button (in a mobile browser it's the picture icon) on the post editor's toolbar with the Size parameter set to Large. If they are too small, I will not be able to read them & although I can enlarge them, this just puts the text out of focus. If you prefer PM them to me. If you do PM me, then please add a link in there to this thread, so as I can find it easily.

One of these networks seems to have been held in the PC's "history", it was not being broadcast from anywhere. I have helped the customer through fogetting that network & it is now OK.

However, I have noticed that the signal strength of the WiFi is very low & have made recommendations via a PM to try & solve that.
