New modem old PC wont connect to internet anymore

Hello

Forgive the intrusion, Talktalk recently sent me a new modem (I didnt request one), but checking the community I found this was part of a upgrade program them are doing, I didnt know what to do with it, and a few weeks later got a letter from Talktalk saying I hadnt installed the new Modem yet, a few days ago my offspring visited and set it up for me, it is a wireless modem, and connected to my work PC easily enough, and my husbands tablet was also set up with no issues.

Today I went to use my personal Windows PC, and had to set up the connect to this new modem, it said it could not find a wireless device, so I connected to cable from the PC to the LAN 1 slot, and input the devices name and password into my PC but it says it cannot connect Error 815, tried a few times to reinstall it and no luck, my PC is on the older side (over a decade), but has all my personal work on it, and these modern computers dont have CD drives for me to transfer my information across.

Does this new modern modem not work with old windows machines, or do you have any other suggestion, sorry for length of post, I believe this is know as TLDR?

Well if you can't connect to the router via an Ethernet cable it is not just a case of the wireless. I am not sure what you mean by "input the devices name and password into my PC".

All TalkTalk routers are fully backwardly compatible with older WiFi cards. Which make/model of router are you using & on this old PC, please can you get me the output from these commands from the Windows command prompt. Please enter these commands one at a time, pressing enter after each one and wait for the response. Then copy and paste the output from each into your reply.

netsh wlan show drivers
netsh wlan show interface
netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid

Please feel free to PM the results to me, but if you do, please include a link back to this thread, so that I can quickly find it again.

Note I will need to know the names of your wireless networks.
