VPN not working - Talk talk router firmware update required

Similar to other recent questions, today I'm unable to connect to my work VPN. I'm getting an error message saying: "The VPN connection between your computer and the VPN server could not be completed. The most common cause for this failure is that at least one internet device between your computer and the VPN server is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation protocol packets.

My IT department has narrowed the problem to the router or the laptop but as I have successfully connected via a mobile hotspot, the problem must be the router.

It was working fine previously.

I've made a change to your router firmware, please can you retest and let us know how the connection compares?
