topic Low sync speed until CPE is plugged in in Broadband

I usually use a Huawei EchoLife modem (yes, yes, I know.) with my usual MikroTik router with the TalkTalk service - a few days ago the sync speed dropped to 15mbps, when the service is meant to be 65.

I tried with a different modem, a DrayTek Vigor167 that I nicked from the pile at work, same thing, 15mbps.

Got out the TalkTalk CPE, connected that and went on it's built-in Wi-Fi, 45mbps! Our normal sync rate...

Plug the Huawei modem back in and now it's syncing up at 45. It's almost like the TalkTalk CPE requests a DLM reset or something when it connects - are they lowering the sync profile when you don't use their magical CPE?

I believe this has happened before, but I can't be sure, last time there was a fault it affected the phone line too, BTOR engineer said the pair dropped off the connector block.

Hi Nevexo

Thanks for updating your Community Profile.

The line is in sync at just under 50mb. Can I just check, when the speed drops have you tried rebooting the router first before connecting a different router?
