I am scratching my head a bit at the nature of the building works here? If you cannot access your phone socket then you cannot connect a phone, certainly not via the router.

Hope some can help to save me some building work!

We have internet package with TalkTalk which includes a landline, but we never needed that due to us using mobiles only.

We now want to connect a landline as we have an elderly relative moving in and she might need it in an emergency but when some build work was done a year ago, I cannot get to the BT socket at the wall, just have the wire from the socket to the DSL-3782, which is fine for the internet but I am struggling to find out if I can connect a landline telephone in any way to the DSL-3782, saving me knock part of a wall out to get to the BT wall socket, to connect the telephone there.

The idiot builder put a false wall in front of the BT wall socket and just left the line to the DSL-3782 router in, which was fine but now I need a landline and do not want to have to knock through the false wall. Was hoping i could connect a basic landline style phone to the DLS-3782 via an ethernet or something like that!

Hi

if the cable to the router is only an extension, then you may be able to connect a female back-to-back adapter then connect a mircrofilter for a phone and router to connect into.

Difficult one to answer, not knowing if the original BT socket was an old style single port socket or the type with a dual port face plate, one for phone and one for router etc.

As I remember it was a single wall socket with a dual port connector plugged in, the cable to the router was in one of the ports the telephone port was empty, best I can remember

Hi

i think then, the only option would be to access the socket. If there is a filter at the main socket it would need to be removed or an extension lead connected to the socket.
