After yet another test on my long standing problem with low broadband speed I contacted tech chat line who as always are very polite.

William responded and went through a check. He suggested a new offer on a faster service. I explained that before a new contract the old one of 125mbs should be achieved. He suggested sales could help and transferred me.

Sales couldn’t fix the problem and transferred me back.

Paul ran a number of checks then asked for the router to be switched off and on. No change. He said the line was restricted.

He then ask for the router units to be reset. No change

The next test was to switch the router off for 20mins to allow the local exchange to reset. No change but contact with Paul lost.

Contacted tech chat again, William again with more checks but during the call another person started chatted asking me to sign in and go through the security checks again! After a number of checks the line was lost - after over 2hrs I gave up!

Looks like goodbye Talktalk - you’re driving me away!

Hi @Timeshare

If you want to try & get this fixed, I am confident that we can help you via the forum. However, first (as I have no idea what you were asked to do in relation to the slow speed), a couple of quick questions:-

I assume that you are on full fibre as you mention speeds of 125Mbps or is this GFAST?

If the former, please connect an Ethernet device to the port on the ONT that the router normally connects to & do a speed test. What results do you get there?

Which make/model of TalkTalk router are you using?

With the router re-connected to the ONT as normal, are the slow speeds on Wi-Fi connected devices or Ethernet ones as well?

Thanks.
