Hi we are on standard ADSL (only street in area not on full fibre - problems with underground pipework so Openreach not upgrading), and just recently my HG633(?) router has started dropping wireless. It works ok on wired connections, and by trying an even older router the wireless works ok on that.

It seems to be an intermittant problem - sometimes it works ok, other times no signal detected by any devices.

Not too concerned about using wired to connect laptop/printer etc, but is causing havoc with smart lighting and heating!

Is your voice service OK, just wireless issues with that router? If so, I imagine the support team will be happy to swap it out for a new model. Please bear in mind though that they won't pick this up before they are back online on Monday.

Good morning,

I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on your line now which is clear. Would you like us to send a replacement router to see how the connection compares and to rule this out?

Thanks

Hi Michelle,

There isn't a problem with the actual line, which has always been really good. It seems to be more a problem with the wireless side - and it isn't consistant. As I said in original post, connecting devices by cables gives a rock stready connection. It is the wireless side that is "dodgy". For example this morning the signal, so far, seems ok, yesterday it was worked intermittently.

The problem started about 4 weeks ago, and nothing has changed that is likely to affect the wifi signal.

I have tried using an old router, which I know has a more limited wifi range, and that was rock steady, however I cannot use it because it hasn't the range to reach my car charger, which the TT router can do.

A replacement router would probably be the answer, as the HG633 has been fine since well before lockdown until now (and let''s face it all electronic devices fail eventually).
