Unsecure Connection

I keep getting warning message "unsecured connection" do not enter sensitive information such as passwords & credit cards on this site it could be stolen.

I recently had a new router which I thought would eliminate this issue but still getting same message.

It shows WPA/WPA2- PERSONNEL I have gone into settings on router but cant change this.

I have changed the name of router.

I have a new phone so not using old equipment etc.

Though I have additional security on all my devices this is causing me some concern.

Is there an easy way to fix this issue thats not too technical.

I am using TTSCOMFAST5364 superfast router which I recently received.

Not issues exactly but the previous router lights were constantly flashing all the while when in use also the security issue was the same when using previous router. which I had for years .

I did think by having a new router would resolve the security issue but unfortunately it hasn't. Still same message "don't enter sensitive info such as passwords or credit cards on this site as it could be stolen"

I need this problem to be escalated because I am now very reluctant to use Wi-Fi at all. Even considering changing Broadband provider.

I have checked the WIFI settings while using this now and it states IPV4 DNS Servers (unencrypted)

Just to clarify I meant the old router " I had for years" not this security issue.

No this problem came to my attention when I had the old router as well.

That is why I decided to request a new router as I had the old router for years and thought outdated security settings was the cause.

I don't understand why you have been unable to change the WiFi security settings? You should select WPA2 Personal/AES from the dropdown menu and then make sure to click the Apply button.

The op hasn't mentioned what he is trying to access? Could be a club or similar not too well painted. Or maintained website.

I have still got this issue and dont seem to be getting anywhere with this.

Its the IP address that states its insecure before I even log in to router.

It seems as though I am using the correct security settings on router.

I can only check this on my mobile which is new.

What browser are you using?

Have you an example of a website you are trying to reach, or is only when you try to access your router that the warning appears?

Its nothing to do with accessing any website other than the IP address before I can even get into the router settings.

Thanks for your help but I am now going to leave this to Talktalk. IT staff to resolve now and best not to be discussing this on this site

If it appears only when you are trying to access your router then it can be ignored. The router address will be http, not https. There is no reason for it to be secure as it is not an external site.

Hi @absfab54 thank you for getting back to us, you can use the steps below.

Open your browser and type in 192.168.1.1 (default address, modify if changed)
2. Login by entering the Username: admin and Password: On the label on the back of your router

Set Security to WPA2 Personal, this must also set the encryption to AES as no separate option for this)
Dashboard > See Wi-Fi Settings > Manage Advanced Settings > Wi-Fi 2.4Ghz gear icon > Basic
Dashboard > See Wi-Fi Settings > Manage Advanced Settings > Wi-Fi 5Ghz gear icon > Basic.

I have tried to follow your instructions but it doesn't let me change security settings.

I can see its set WPA2 personnel but cant confirm anything else.

Basically cant change any security settings at all.
