topic Original Virgin Media equipment being referred to as "third party" in Broadband

In trying to sort out connection problems with router this evening, the chat staff referred to the router as a third party device. It's the router Virgin Media supplied 12 years ago when the account was setup and before VM transferred the contract to Talk Talk. Am I going to have problems resolving connection problems with Talk Talk because we've never been given a TT router to replace the VM router at any point?

That Virgin router has done amazingly well, @Irene2906.

Talktalk can only offer direct help with the devices it sends out itself - even more recent customers coming from Shell are in a similar boat.

If you have never had a Talktalk one there should be no issue about sending one out.

Also check the status of your contract - if you are out of contract or nearing the end of a minimum term, they shouldn't charge you if you renew and order the new router then.
