Cannot change Wi-Fi password

this an ongoing problem with my network, I was advised to change my Wi-Fi password but every time I try it drops out, it’s being caused by neighbours using my network as they gave 2 games console connected The Wi-Fi has been dropping quite a lot in the last 24 hours, I even tried talking to an agent but again Wi-Fi dropped out Any help or advise would be helpful as if I can’t change the password what can I do.

What drops out?

To change your password, do you log into your router first, via your browser, via http://192.168.1.1/

I did say that the easiest way by far is to do this from an Ethernet-connected device. You are trying to do this from the Advanced settings, are you? You can alternatively do it from the initial dashboard:-

Wi-Fi tab > Connection Details > Change.

Once done, from whichever way suits you best, you will be disconnected, as your current password stored in your device is now wrong & either you must update it to the new password, or forget the network & connect again using the new password.

I wonder then @wJanet1 are you suffering from WiFi interference? Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment; this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz band can sometimes have a better range; however, this all depends on your local area.

The next stage involves sending out a guide to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.

There is no problem, even though connected wirelessly with WIFI, then connecting to the router via http://192.168.1.1/

then finding where your WIFI password is stored, and then changing your password.

Before you do this, ensure you record your new password externally to the router, so you can use it to later to re-connect to the internet via WIFI.
