Internet Connected but issue is with Talktalk DNS servers 79.79.79.79 and 79.79.79.80

My broadband is connected and my router gives out DHCP. This is set to give connected devices the talktalk public DNS servers mentioned these DNS servers are not working they are not able to resolve dns names. This means that my connected devices cannot lookup DNS and therefore connect to any site. I manually changed my DNS server on my connected device to google public DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and I can connect to sites.

Talktalk there is an issue with your public DNS Servers 79.79.79.79 and 79.79.79.80

Hi there @Geobob. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, just to confirm has the issue been resolved after manually changing your DNS server?

Yes if I change the DNS server settings on my laptop and phone to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 I can connect to the internet as normal. If I use the DNS servers given out by my router the talktalk ones (79.79.79.79 and 79.79.79.80) I can't connect to sites etc. as it can't resolve anything.

There are currently no reported incidents on our servers having an issue, I would suggest you try changing the DNS settings on the router to avoid, changing it manually on all devices.

@KeithFrench I would appreciate any advice on this.

Look at this from my laptop talktalk DNS servers clearly not working ( can't resolve www.bbc.co.uk)but google ones are resolving:

There was an issue but it now seems to be fixed this is from my latest checks as they are now able to resolve addresses:

Thank you for confirming the issue has now been resolved, must have been a temporal issue. However I have sent it over to the Network team, so they can look into it.
