Talktalk just advised a £ value increase that equates to greater than 13%. very sneaky attempt to break the rules.

And you should be aware that it is Ofcom who mandated a fixed price increase rather than a % increase as in previous years.

As @Divsec says you will need to contact TalkTalk direct now as there is no staff coverage on the forums any longer.

@steveweavy , I was in a similar position and renewed my contract this month to get a better deal.

If you go on chat or phone I would advise to make sure you ask to be put through to the loyalty team to get the best deals and don't just take their first (or second) offer.

It might also be a good idea to contact them before the end of the month.

It was indeed OFCOM who mandated the fixed £ increase, but the ISPs took advantage by making the value a good deal higher than the inflation percentage was likely to be. I also don't really think it's a reasonable excuse for TalkTalk to get out of the "When your contract ends, we promise to never increase your price above the rate of inflation" made to those of us who had a Fixed Price Plus contract.

It's not the first time OFCOM have made a ruling which ended up to the detriment of consumers. I remember the time when ISPs would offer contracts with separate line rental and broadband charges until OFCOM interfered, resulting in worse deals for consumers.

Shame about TalkTalk getting rid of support on the forum. It used to be the best way to get problems resolved, but in reality it ended a little while back when the decent, helpful staff were sacked and replaced with staff who were fairly clueless, so formally getting rid of them now I guess doesn't really make much more difference.

Customers need to be within 90 days of the end of their minimum term if they want to renew without clocking up an admin charge.

Fine after that.

The Ts&Cs are worth keeping an eye on, as is this page, from November 2025, but customers are not alerted when it gets updated.

I was kind of assuming that @steveweavy was past the minimum term, otherwise he would have known about the increase from the start of his contract and not been taken by surprise when informed of it now.

The new support team were plunged in at the deep end, replacing a group with many years of experience. They were far from clueless and it is both unkind and simply wrong of you to say so.

Ok, I wasn't aware of that @ferguson .

I assumed that they had many years experience of providing support via chat and phone before being tasked with the forum support.

Still a shame that TalkTalk got rid of the original team of assistants who provided good service with a team who, for whatever reason, were unable to match that same standard, and now we have no support at all.

All about money at the end of the day I guess, and a phenomenon affecting other businesses as well, not just TalkTalk. A drive towards providing goods and/or services faster and/or cheaper, sacrificing quality in the process.

I didn't think posting on this thread would be an issue as there is no TalkTalk support here any more and the OP has already had the only help and advice that anyone here is able to give ie. contact TalkTalk support via phone or chat.

I didn't intend this to get into a big debate. I don't think any more discussion on the issue is required.
