Charging for Mobile Data Boosts

The mobile plan that I have includes 500Mbytes of data. If I sign up for a mobile data boost but don't actually need it will I be charged for it?

Yes, @Stoker. Applying the boost comes with a monthly charge, regardless of how often you use it.

The same with the landline Anytime Calls, for example.

So you need to work out whether your average usage warrants adding the boost, or whether the little you use the mobile makes it more economical to just trickle over the allowance.

Many thanks for clarifying that for me Gliwmaeden2. It's what I expected. I did sign up for it this month after exceeding the 500Mb and being charged for additional Mbytes but don't see any charge for the boost yet on my account hence my question. I've cancelled the boost already as there were exceptional circumstances this month.

It probably won't show up till the next bill is issued, @Stoker, and you might as well have kept it for closer to the full month! Anyway, not horribly expensive, thankfully.

I think I will be querying my bill with them anyway. It's due tomorrow and I see they added additional charges for mobile data on 2 successive days which could not be right according to their records of the data used. Many thanks again for your help.

You'll need to phone the mobile team or use Chat, @Stoker, as forum staff don't cover mobile billing.
