Is it possible to actually disable the PIN requirement completely?

During the initial set-up it is required that a 4 digit PIN is entered, I have no need for a PIN in my house.

I have looked for the option to be able to not require its use but all I can find through the set-up menus is to be able to change it for a different 4 digit PIN.

Does anyone know whether it is possible or not? its not a big problem but just an annoying niggle occasionally.

It's not possible to fully disable the pin. Sky will often show some movies that are age restricted, early in the morning, so this will force a pin requirement if you are subscribed to Sky Cinema via apps such as Now TV.
