The TV Hub does not have a recording facility, although there is a limited pause/rewind feature.

With more and more content now online, on demand with the various players, the industry as a whole is moving away from recording boxes, and focusing more on streaming boxes.

This is not just TalkTalk, other Providers are starting to provide streaming only boxes.

I agree, I like to record programmes so I can fast forward past the adverts. Also, no subtitles when watching on demand....

Rubbish box. So, I cannot record the shows anymore?????? Do I have to watch all the ads????? Ridiculous.

Just because "the industry" is going down a route no-one wants doesn't make it a reasonable position to take. Recordable boxes are available, and I've ditched the hub (or rather sent it back) and now TalkTalk have lost not only this business, but also I won't be back when my contract ends.
No doubt the advertising industry are pressuring to make sure viewers can't dodge the adverts - it's how they make their money. But annoying the greater part of the customer base is hardly the way forward.
Sadly, TalkTalk and any other providers that are going down the streaming only path are paving the way for those that are prepared to offer a service and/or components that will do what people want.

If you have deep pockets and want a recording box from a provider, then Sky and BT/EE are your choices. Otherwise, there are still recording boxes available to purchase retail, although a very small choice these days as customer demand dwindles.
