Is it possible to connect a recording device to the new hub, and if so how, sometimes I am away for more than a week so need to record

No, its not possible. The box has catchup apps for the main channels, and you can add programmes to your watchlist by scrolling through the guide and finding a programme.

this way, if its on catchup you won't miss the show.

Due to copyright and digital rights management, it is not possible to connect any recording equipment to the box.
