UZW4054TTG Set Top Box date problem

Has anyone experienced the problem I am having?

My Set Top Box, STB, new type, UZW4054TTG, had been working fine until roughly the start of February 2026. From then, the EPG info (using the “i” key of the remote control) has frequently been providing old information. That is the “expanded” info, not the (limited) info in the EPG lines (6 entries per page) themselves.

This applies to programmes which are, in some sense, part of a series. A good example is “The One Show”, but applies to many others. The One Show is a good example because the programme’s expanded info is date/time-stamped. Today, looking at the line entry for 9Mar26, the “i” entry is dated 06/02/2026. And for a split second (seriously, about .2 second) the correct entry is shown before being overwritten by the wrong info.

Programmes which only occur once (or, say, films last broadcast years ago) have their info correctly displayed.

TalkTalk seems not to believe me. I have had long (too long) discussions and texts about the problem.

I think the error must be related to a software update around end of January/start of February.

TalkTalk did send a replacement box (presumably thinking some chip (or similar) had gone wrong, but that did not help – the new STB gave the same results as the original.

The date confusion also means that the software buttons associated with expanded info are wrong – I cannot bookmark a future programme if it has been broadcast recently.

Any suggestions?

This thread is probably a good starting point for an explanation, but basically it is deliberate to reflect that the box is designed for streaming.

Thank you to those who have replied and drawn my attention to the other thread.

I am amused by "ferguson"s use of the word 'feature' when talking about this change -- although it seems to have fallen out of use, I seem to remember Microsoft would often use the word 'feature' when they tried to explain how they had screwed something up!!

I understand how frustrating this change can feel, especially when the programme information doesn’t behave as expected.

This behaviour is part of a recent update to the new UZW4054TTG set‑top box, which is designed primarily for streaming. This means some programme information shown in the expanded ‘i’ view may reference the most recently available on‑demand data rather than the upcoming broadcast.

Thanks for the reply. But you have only stated the facts as they are but have not mentioned that the customer's interests should have priority. In my opinion (and from other customer opinions on the community site), this is a downgrade. At the very least, the change made should have been switchable in the settings. Instead, this change has been made to make TalkTalk's life easier, without a thought for the customer.

What is to stop the box's being re-programmed (minor change) to pick up the first expanded-info downloaded and reject any further downloads -- as I say, this could be switchable. I have mentioned elsewhere that in the course of presently displaying the incorrect expanded-info, the box seems to download the correct info for a split second before overwriting with the old info. Today, Friday 13th March 2026, the expanded-info for, say, The One Show, is from 11th February 2025 (note especially the difference in years). Who truly wants to know that info? The word feature has been used, when it is obviously a bug! (And of course this type of rubbish is also displayed for many other programmes).

I do understand your concerns, and I am very sorry to hear that you feel this way.
