recurring card payments email saying no collection in july / august genuine e-mail or a scam?

hi all

like others I received an email purporting to be from talktalk that said talktalk are changing card processors and can't debit cards for 2 months that was on july 1st I have now received an email as usual from talktalk saying my card will be debited on *******24. Can anyone say for sure that this was genuine or a known scam the sender address was info at consumer(dot)talktalk(dot)co(dot)uk

The recurring card payments advice hasn't been changed here, @blodwynblod:

It may be that Talktalk has sent out one of its usual generic emails about debiting your card in the usual way, instead of a reminder to make a manual payment.

Staff will not be back on the forum before Monday.

You should contact them directly if you need to know sooner:

the reason my posts are on another member's post is because in the emails I get that is where the link sends me, your answers on the other posts say they have been copied to my post but have not. I was answering the original poster as a point of information as he had not had a proper answer to his question , had you put your answer in this post I presume the link in the email would point here

When we respond to a post, Talktalk automatically sends you notifications that there is a response on that thread.

I have no control over that whatsoever, which is why you were asked in that thread to stop posting there.

The OP's particular question had replies from staff.

If you ever lose track of your original thread, you can find it again in the profile area under the ACTIVITY tab.

Any copying I mentioned in the other thread was in reference to the material from the article about recurring payments which you can plainly see in my first answer on this thread.

I have no control over how Talktalk words it's notification emails.

Please wait for staff to reach your thread now to clear up whether the published notice about recurring card payments NOT being taken still applies, and what that other email was about that confused the issue for you.

Just to clarify, recurring card payments will NOT be taken for a few months , a Manual payment will be required, you do however still get your generic notifications as usual

thanks Gliwmaeden2 and Arne for the info , apparently according to news services talktalk are in big trouble with a billion pound debt and a payment deadline they have had to appeal to dunstone and other shareholders in order to meet in August. that might explain the situation as the card processor may have withdrawn services. the headlines are that if the payment isn't made on time TT will go under , we can't have that so I have paid my bill by card early , presumably if enough people pay early the £200 million they need will be available from subscriptions. 3.6 million customers paying £40-50+ early for two months is £ 300 million which should keep them going for a while , the cost of converting to 100% fibre services in the UK is going to stretch many companies.

oh dear oh dear

I have just received an email from talk talk saying sorry you cancelled your recurring card payment. As requested I made a one off manual card payment on the due date I did not not cancel the recurring authority I made a payment as discussed earlier.

OK someone tell me are talktalk able to take recurring payments or not , do I have to make a manual payment in august or not , do I have to re-instate the recurring payment or will it be re-instated automatically . If fitch is anything to go by reducing talktalk from ccc to cc( that's junk status) then all this might be irrelevant

They seem to be sending out the generic emails, very confusingly, @blodwynblod.

Talktalk just never seems to invest in fine-tuning the admin - very irritating and unhelpful.

Pay the one-off payment for this bill.

Arne will be back after the weekend.

It will be good to get clarity on whether the recurring card payment will just restart automatically etc .... and which emails to believe!

No idea which of these emails is the real deal and which are generic nonsense, @blodwynblod.

An email has been issued asking to reset up the payment method, it was automated and when ive checked the account the card is still showing as active, your next payment is set for the 21st lets see if that payment is taken.

No admin fees will be applied should the payment not go through as normal.
