I received the message about price increase:

Therefore, in line with your terms and conditions, the price you pay each month will increase by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rate of inflation +3.7%. This means that from 15th April 2025 your package will go up by £1.36 a month.

My current price is £30. Adding 3.7% I calculate gives 31.11, ie an increase of £1.11, so can anyone explain the difference? £1.36 is around 4.5% if my calculation is correct.

I maybe missed something as I have discounts and inclusive calls, but I thought those were until end of contract.

Also said my router was outdated and no longer supported. Does this mean I will get a new router free? HG633 currently.

having read other threads, I realise what happened. It would be easier if the message said CPI PLUS 3.7% = 7.7%.

I presume I can't negotiate a new contract without a breakage fee.

Still the router question.

You shouldn't have to pay the contract breakage fee if re-negotiating a new contract but there may be an recontract admin fee if there is still a significant time left on your current contract.

@davep, if you are renegotiating your package, it is worth waiting till the last month to negotiate the best deal.

Staff will be back on here from Monday to confirm swapping out the router.

@Arne-TalkTalk that's ok. Just out of interest can I continue with the current one as long as it works as replacing will mean re-setting all appliances as well as set top box and smart TV, when I hope I don't have to re-set all passwords for the tv channels.

Will the new router be easy to set up as I can't remember what I did with the current one. Would you require the old one returning, or can I keep it a a backup? I don't want to go through being charged for non return as I saw some had in the past.

For some reason I have 2 HG633's. Not sure whether the older one works.

The current router wont get any further firmware updates, its your choice to keep it connected the easier way to swap out the router is the make a note of the current SSID (network name) and password on the old router, and then change the new routers details, im sure there are instruction in the broadband section, that way all the devices dont need to be updated.

We wouldn't want to the old one back.

@Arne-TalkTalk Thanks for the reply. I didn't get a notification email, but not sure I was subscribed. Don't think I've had to for others but not sure.

I did receive an email from Royal Mail letting me know I am having a delivery from Talktalk so presumed it was the router. Still got ongoing problem with emails not forwarding from gmail to my thunderbird client, so might have missed that as I don't regularly open Gmail. It doesn't seem to be being solved and has gone on for ages now. Can you see anything or escalate it in any way?

I will have a go with the router when it arrives and I have time, and let you know what happens.

Just seen a similar email. My monthly is £35 and going up by £2.17.

3.7% is about £1.30. So they have added over 6% to mine.

sure it’s all above board but would like some transparency.

It is actually CPI plus 3.7% as set out in the T&Cs prevailing at the time. If you want any further help please start your own topic.

@Arne-TalkTalk not been here for a while. Just to let you know I haven't got round to the router yet and not sure at this point when I will.

As the aside, still having problems with emails not forwarding from my gmail to thunderbird client, but I think it's only ones sent from my @tiscali.co.uk or wife's taltalk.net emails. Any info or solution would be welcome, though it may be a while before I get back on here so thanks in advance!
