Hello TalkTalk

I have a landline fault that I have logged a number of times with you over the course of months if not years, via the online system. At 83 years old this is no mean feat. Your system almost always says that a fault has been created and we are working on it, then closes it, however the fault remains. The telephone is my lifeline and I have changed the handsets multiple times now as I was concerned these were the problems and had the inside rewired (by a very nice openreach man at a previous call out) but I still have a really crappy connection to anyone that I call. Microfilters are in every socket even those without a phone.

They cannot hear me or I cannot hear them, even though I have now invested in yet another new handset that cost me a small fortune. People complain of a static like sound on the line and cannot hear me. So concerned have I been that my hearing is deteriorating that I spent another small fortune on hearing aids only to find that the phone line is just awful and probably not actually down to me.

What I do is I call again and again and again and at some point suddenly the line seems to be a little better. This affects calls to mobile and landlines alike.

Please can you help? By now an engineer visit would be very useful. Thank you for your help.

Hi Jgale1940,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems with your service. First of all you only need micro-filters in sockets that have devices connected to them empty sockets don't need a micro-filter

How many telephone socket do you have? What devices do you have connected to your telephone sockets?

Chris

3 Phone sockets. Phone plugged into master socket which I can physically see is directly connected to the outside without any gubbins in the way. The phone performs the same in all sockets.

Also. That master socket was replaced by OpenReach not that long ago, also the copper in the house to that point was replaced.

Thank you for your help.

Yes, I have a son in law who is works in IT, often dealing with networking. So he has been round and tried most things including testing the lines inside the house.

If you have a list of things you want me to do, please give me the full list. I can go off, do them and report back to you and save the back and forth for you and your time. I understand that you must be very, very busy.

Thank you again.

We just really need you to test the phone when connected to the test socket. If you are then still experiencing poor call quality we can arrange an engineer visit

So sorry. was I not clear enough. I do apologise to you Chris.

It is a miracle that as an 83 year old lady on her own that I can deal with this crazy way of offering support to people.

Yes the phone has been tested as you suggest. Yes the phone line is still awful. If I could find a number to call I would, but I would not be able to hear anyone at TalkTalk, because the line is awful 9 times out of 10.

I think maybe it is best if I just cancel this contract, I am out of contract anyway and pass the problem on to a new company and see what happens. Thank you for your help today.
