    <description>&lt;P&gt;One day TT will want to remove our copper connection and leave us with a full fibre VOIP.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When this happens we will have no ability to make&amp;nbsp; reliable calls in an emergency.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have checked the Ofcom site for indoor mobile call coverage for our property. The results confirm our experiences that none of the four networks can provide a reliable signal. I was pleased to learn that UK Power Networks were able to provide me with a list of our power cuts back to 2018. two of them lasted for over 11 hours.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We are in our seventies and want easy simple solutions to being able to make emergency calls.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;As I understand it Ofcom&amp;nbsp; and the government expect ISPS etc to ensure that we are able to&amp;nbsp; make emergency calls at all times in a power cut.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;UK Power Networks provided this snippet "&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It is the responsibility of the provider to ensure those who depend on a landline are provided a resilient solution that will allow customers to make calls to the emergency services in the event of a power outage and the government is working with Ofcom to ensure this is the case."&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So how will TT make sure that my wife and I are safe with VOIP for anything up to 11 hours?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Openreach are phasing out copper lines over the next few years, so it's not a case that TalkTalk want to push you to voip, the simple answer is that we have to, as the current infrastructure will no longer exist.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I know that Openreach are using battery back up systems in some of their ONT's (that's the fibre connection box in the home). I've heard that some providers will use sim cards in routers to provide a 5G back up in an emergency or powercut etc.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I can't say what the future will hold or what types of equipment TalkTalk will supply in the future, but our management teams are fully aware of all issues, and that many customers will be vulnerable, use care alarms or even medical equipment that needs to remain connected, so all these factors will be within their thoughts as they plan for any future equipment and future network upgrades.&lt;/P&gt;
