Our landline is only working intermittently and has been like this for some days now .

It goes completely dead (no dial tone) for some time then spontaneously and randomly comes back to life, albeit with a very noisy and scratchy tone.

Thanks. Line test is passing. How many telephone sockets do you have? Is your telephone currently connected to the test socket - Your guide to main phone sockets - TalkTalk Help & Support

I thought I'd responded to this query by email.

However

We only have 1 telephone socket. It is an Openreach Master socket 5c, mark 4.

There is no sign of a test socket.

Our telephone is connected to this socket only.

The test socket is under the master socket faceplate. Could you test with the telephone connected to the test socket and preferably with a second telephone if possible. Please let us know how you get on

I will do so at the next opportunity. However, as the fault is intermittent it may be some time before I am able to do this.

The Openreach Master socket 5c, mark 4 does not have a horizontal line across the front, as specified for those with an accessible test socket on this site, and in your video.

If there is a test socket, how do I gain access to it?
