topic Home phone dead in Home Phone

My home phone was working up until Tuesday evening when I received a call from a friend but all I could hear is firstly some crackling then the brrb brrrb ringing tone. I put the phone down and it rang again with the same result and phone is totally silent . I tried to return the call but the phone said " check line cord ". I have since replaced the cord and plugged it into the test socket inside the plate on the wall with same result. I have also tried a new phone but problem is still the same. My broadband is plugged into the same socket via a two port adapter and that works fine, just the phone at fault . I feel it must be a fault with the line coming into the house, what can I do next please?

Staff will be back on here from c 8am, @Retired#57, but it's a shame if this is the first time you've reported it as it's gone on for nearly a week.

If you go to service status dashboard via the community forum menu, you should find a blue button for "visit my connection" and once you've given that time to load you'll see that you could run some phone line tests from there.

Staff will probably run these for you but they'll need you to be ready to respond during the day.

Automatic compensation for loss of service is calculated relative to when you reported the fault, which is why it's good to let Talktalk know as soon as something like this happens. You can also report issues to Chat support when you are online.
