Large ping spikes and packet loss

Recently having terrible connection issues. Sometimes connection is reasonably stable at 34ms only to spike randomly to 120+ms or even lose the packet completely (picture attached). Other times the ping is incredibly high (220ms) and jittery (+-100ms) even at offpeak times.
The issues appeared sometime in the last week. Common fixes like rebooting the router and switching to a wired connection had no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
