Disclaimer - I don't know very much about this sort of stuff !!!

A couple of months ago I upgraded to full fibre150. Installed with Eero6. The speeds I am regularly obtaining are around 40mbs on both my desktop and my phone. Previously I was on the talktlak hub which was hard wired to the desktop and has the full 32mbs that i was paying for. I installed a wifi card in the desktop, I paid about £55 for it so I guess it should be a decent one and that is how it is now.

If I take my phone and stand near the Eero and do a speed test I get 150mbs no problem so I am thinking it is a coverage issue. The thing is, the Eero is only about 6 metres from the PC's wifi antennae and although in a different room there is only a hallway in-between the two. Can it be that I need another Eero ? at not insubstantial cost. Surely I should get full coverage for this small area or are they just pretty poor coverage despite being sold something that is supposed to be all singing all dancing. I feel I have been sold a pup by talktalk.

Looking at your other screenshot you are only connected to the 2.4Ghz band, you will never get as fast a speed as you should get unless you are connected to the 5GHz band.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers much more from interference than the 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.

Please can you check in the Eero App & tell me what channel the 5GHz band is currently using?

I have been thinking some more about this & I noticed that your new WiFi card uses the Intel AX200 chipset, as do many different manufacturers. I know that the later variant, the AX210 had some performance issues that Intel fixed with a new driver. However, for some reason the driver registered to Windows Update was still the old one, to resolve those problems you had to download the new driver from Intel's support site. Perhaps the AX200 has issues as well with performance in some manner? Did you just use the drivers from Windows Update or did you download the latest ones from Intel?

A quick question for you, bearing in mind that the Eero is the only TalkTalk-provided router that I have never had, I have to rely on screenshots from customers like yourself, to try & understand the app. In the two screenshots (thanks for these), the first one does not show the channel numbers, but the second one does. What did you have to do to get the two different screenshots?

Now to your problem, you are stuck on the 2.4GHz WiFi band, because the Eero is using channel 155, which is not supported by the vast majority of WiFi adapters. Eero does not permit users to change their channel allocation via the app, which personally I think is a shame. This is becoming a growing problem, we have got at least two cases resolved by the Eero support team (not TalkTalk) issuing an upgrade that moves the channel down from 155 to the 36 - 48 range, which ensures the greatest compatibility with devices. However, this upgrade would seem to be only available to specific customers who have this problem.

I have asked one of TalkTalk's support to pick your thread up and add you to the list of customers with this problem of the Eero being stuck on channel 155.

They aim to respond within 48 hours (Monday - Friday) excluding Bank Holidays, but if more urgent you can always try the Service Centre on 0345 172 0088. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. Please try to avoid posting on here until TalkTalk has responded to you, otherwise, this will just put you further down the queue.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, Full Fibre account number & if you can, please include the serial number from your ONT in the Private Notes section. Please also try to include an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.

Hi, it does not seem to be much different than before. it is a little intermittent. occasionally I am getting the full speed but more often than not I am not getting anywhere near it.

Morning,

I've raised this back now. Can I just confirm, what channel is it on now? Will it let you manually change the channel?

Thanks

Alas the Eero does not allow manual channel allocation.

Morning,

Doh! Sorry, thanks Keith. I'll post back as soon as the Devices Manager replies to me.

EDIT/UPDATE - He has just replied and asked me to confirm which devices are struggling to connect at the moment please?

Thanks

Hi

It is my phone and desktop that I am experiencing slow speeds and intermittent connections. That is all I have tired it on.

As I mentioned before. If I stand next to the Eero and do a speed test on my phone it is always where it should be. Have just done one now sat next to my desktop and it is 4, yes 4.47mbps.

Obviously I can't take my desktop to the Eero. It is very sporadic, one minute it is fine, next it is 80mbs, then 30 seconds later it is 20.

Could I just ask, are you using the Ethernet cable supplied with the eero?

Chris
