BT ADSL modem replacement

I have a BT OpenReach ADSL modem that was installed a long time ago. There are three green LED lamps labelled 'Power','DSL' and 'LAN1'. The power and DSL lights are a stable non-flickering glow, however, the LAN light flickers intermittently and is rarely stable for more than 2 seconds before it flickers. Is this normal? Should I get an engineer out to check it?
