Can someone explain to me how this fibre thing works. I have a square white box on the wall into which my router and landline plugs in. Am I to understand that this is a copper line connection? My landline is due to be disconnected on 18th March (I have taken out a new contract for fibre 150 data only) and I have been advised to make sure that the router is connected to the fibre connection box on the wall. In this email they showed pictures of two boxes. one white and one black. I have no such box on any wall in my home. Now, I am not au fait with all things technical but this says to me I do not have full fibre in my home. What I am concerned about is that come 18th March when the landline is disconnected I will also be disconnected from the internet. Am I correct or worrying unnecessarily? Any thoughts from anyone?

They will come and connect all the necessary boxes as part of the Full Fibre installation. The square white box you mention is indeed a copper termination point and will become redundant once the new service is installed.

Thanks for replying to my query. Problem is, every time I speak to someone on the phone, which in itself takes a lot of patience, I've been told that an engineer doesn't need to visit, I don't need any new equipment and when the copper line is disconnected on 18th March the router will switch to fibre so everything will be fine. Am I being led down the garden path? Certainly feels like it! I am slowly losing my mind!

Well @Purdie1 ,

You have old copper broadband inside your house, with the white Master socket

and you have the newer Full Fibre broadband in your shed with the black ONT, which is currently unfinished.

You will certainly need the engineer to come and somehow finish what was left unfinished in 2019

I am wondering, won't you need a phone connection after this all over?

(Because you said that you ordered 'data only'. i.e. no phone connection.)

Bill

I'm just checking this with our order management team and I will post back here as soon as I have more information.

Thanks Bill....you have confirmed exactly what I am worried about. I have had a fibre package for years without any fibre in the house. How ridiculous is that! Let's hope TT can sort this out, otherwise I am off somewhere else!

Hi Purdie1

Our order management team have advised that this is a fault and we will need to arrange an engineer visit.

I have passed this over to our Faults Team and asked them to make contact with you to arrange this visit.

Thanks

@Purdie1

The service in the house, which you have been currently using, is Part-Fibre, not 'Full Fibre'

The one in the shed, is different, it is Full Fibre, but is not complete yet.

And, ideally, the one which is in the shed, should be moved within the house.

It looks like they have 7 days to complete all this.

Also the one which is currently in the shed, should completely replace, the one which is in the house.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot, if you will still require phone service,

you need to remind them as soon as you can, that the new service should not be 'data only', and that there has been a mistake.

Bill
