I've been getting a lot of ping/lag when multiple people are on the internet. Was looking at setting up a Eerro 6+ to hopefully help fix these problems. The problem is I don't have a modem, is it still possible to disable the wifi on my router so I'm using the Eerro instead?

Thanks for creating your own thread. I asked before, is this an eero 6 or an eero Pro6 (if TalkTalk supplied) or is it an eero 6+, as you said that you have purchased yourself? What make/model of router do you have currently? This might have been possible to resolve for nothing had you asked for my help before getting any eero.

Hi Keith, thank you for responding. It's a Eero I've purchased myself from Amazon.

The second one (Sagemcom FAST 5364) is supported, the Huawei has been discontinued. The WiFi on the Sagemcom is better than the Huawei anyway. You can connect the Eero to a LAN port on the Sagemcom, but you will need to change the IP network used by the Sagemcom or the Eero.

Perfect, I'll swap back over to that one. I originally swapped back because the 5364 kept randomly disconnecting from the internet. Is it easy enough to change the settings for the Eroo to work?

I have noticed this thread is in the full fibre board. If you do have this service, then just connect the eero to the ONT and forget about the Sagemcom. There will then be a further complication, who's full fibre do you have, as CityFibre needs a special profile for an eero.

If it's coming through a traditional mastersocket, you have FTTC, @Legend2.

Hi @Legend2

Assuming that the Sagemcom is using the default IP network 192.168.1.1/24 IP network where its IP address is 192.168.1.1, you could configure the eero to use the 192.168.2.0/24 network.

To configure this in the app, go to:-

Settings > Network Settings > Network Services > DHCP & NAT

Select Manual IP, then set the IP address prefix to 192.168.0.0 and input the IP address range.

Typical settings are:-

Subnet IP: 192.168.2.0
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Starting IP: 192.168.2.10 (anything from 192.168.2.2)
Ending IP: 192.168.2.254

Like this, the router will allocate itself the address 192.168.2.1.

Now, tap the Save button at the top right of the window and a message will be displayed saying that the eero needs to reboot. Accept this & wait until it has done this.

Hi Keith, I just set it up and had a look at the settings. I can't see the prefix 192.168.0.0, the closest I've got is 192.168.0.0/16

Interestingly I just put the SQM setting on in the EERO app and it seems to have magically fixed my bufferbloat completely. On the Waveform website when testing for bufferbloat, I was getting a D grade, with the SQM setting on it's now A+. Could this one setting alone really be that good?

SGM can be useful in certain circumstances, as it is a form of Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritise certain IP packets locally within the eero mesh network.

It looks like the app or an eeroOS update has slightly changed the options, 192.168.0.0/16 will do.
