I am currently in contract with TalkTalk and have a Fibre 35 (FTTC) service.

I would like to upgrade to a Full Fibre service and Openreach have carried out the physical street work needed and I have had a couple of offers from other isp's so I know that the system is live.

I understand that there are a number of factors that may be influencing when TalkTalk can offer FTTP so I will just have to be patient.

My contract runs to August 2026 and I have had a 'Renew now' offer from TT with a 24 month deal on FTTC. However, what happens if within an in-contract period I get the chance to take TT full fibre? At least technically I will need to break one contract to make another - but would I just get transferred to a new service at the then prevailing rate (presumably for another two years) or would I need to complete the current FTTC agreement and then look to change? 🤔

I don't fancy the idea of paying a cancellation charge 😆

Thanks

Re: In contract upgrade to FTTP

Hi there @RussellR ,

Thanks for your post — happy to clarify how upgrades work when you're already in contract.

If Full Fibre (FTTP) becomes available at your address while you're still in a Fibre 35 (FTTC) contract, you won’t need to wait until the end of your current agreement to upgrade. When you move from FTTC to FTTP, it’s treated as a technology change/upgrade, so you wouldn’t be charged an early termination fee for leaving the FTTC plan early.

Here’s how it normally works:

Once FTTP shows as available in our systems, you can place an upgrade order with us.

Your existing FTTC contract would be replaced by a new Full Fibre contract at the available price at that time.

A fresh minimum term (typically 24 months) would start from the activation of the Full Fibre service.

There’s no cancellation charge for moving from FTTC → FTTP, because the upgrade switches you to a different technology.

The only situation where charges could apply is if a customer chose to leave TalkTalk altogether mid‑contract — but upgrading within TalkTalk to FTTP is absolutely fine.

If you’ve already seen FTTP offers from other providers, that’s a good sign the network build is complete locally. Availability tends to follow shortly after in our systems, so you may not have long to wait.

Hope this helps — and no need to worry about cancellation fees! 😄
