Thank you so much for your help. This is the daughter replying who is more computer savvy than my 85 year old mother and Step father!

They have windows 7 and WLM and both have memory issues. The computers and the people! They will not cope with any changes now to their email as they just can't remember the new information.

I have shown them how to access the webmail with a few easy mouse clicks so hopefully that will be enough.

Thanks for your help, but I don't think we'll be making any changes to their computer. Life is hard enough for them at this age without throwing anything new at them.

Thanks again, Jan

Please reactivate access to my husbands email account. He is 85 with alzheimers and parkinsons so didn't understand the emails about changing the settings that were sent recently. He is also unable to start learning how to use webmail so needs to continue with ehat he is familiar with. My daughter is here now so she can help us reset them. His email is obscured for customer security and we use microsoft live mail on Windows 7 system. Perhaps you can help us with the settings that we need too please.

Regrettably Windows Live Mail (WLM) does not support secure mail so will no longer work. It's way out of date and does not receive any security upgrades. It's vital for John's security that WLM is not used at all. Not taken online. Completely ceased.

He can use TalkTalk Mail webmail via a secure up to date browser. The upgrade path from WLM is to use Windows Mail on Windows 10 or 11 or if his device is up to date buy a paid upgrade to Outlook 365 or download the free Thunderbird or BlueMail desktop email software. I can help with new software.

If he saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings, because of this you will no longer be able to receive or send emails via this email app or software" then the email address receiving that notification has been limited to webmail only access as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure email.

TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design using an up to date Internet browser.

Select here:  Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.

You will be able to get email access restored to email apps or software including mail collection services so long as you're ready to use up to date and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.

Let us know what upgrade path John chooses.

For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.

When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.

I understand perfectly. TalkTalk Mail webmail is a perfectly good way, and a secure way, to keep in touch.

If a new secure email replacement for Outlook is wanted at some time then download BlueMail desktop app for Windows 7. It will setup with just the email address and password.
