Email settings are perfect.

I've tested sending and receiving emails via TalkTalk Mobile and via Lebara Mobile and both use the Vodafone 4G network. I see no problem.

Have you switched Mobile Data on and made sure that your 'phone does have a mobile data connection by testing for an Internet connection to websites via a browser?

The Vodafone 3G network is being switched off area by area during 2023. So if your mobile data coverage has lost 3G and the phone is not 4G capable then the TalkTalk Guide to the Vodafone 3G switch off may help.

Hello, this is my first query.

Take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address leaving the part after the @ symbol and upload here using the Picture icon (mobile browser) above this Reply area.

What mobile network / mobile provider do you use?

No reason to believe the Samsung mail app is at fault but you can always set up the Gmail app to prove a point.

NB Gmail app incoming security type is SSL/TLS, outgoing security type is STARTTLS and Require sign in switched on. Otherwise as the standard settings.

The Samsung native app works over Wi-Fi so look at the mobile phone Settings in the Apps management, select the Samsung email app and Data Usage details and you'll see the ability to Disable Mobile data and Disable Wi-Fi. I'd guess, based on your tests that the Samsung email app has been set to Disable Mobile data.

Hello again. I think you've resolved my problem. In the App under Application data usage I switched on 'Allow data usage while data saver is on'. To test I switched Wi-Fi off, sent myself email and hey presto. Thank you so much.

Excellent.

I don't use the 'Data Saver' option. But if I did then i have a slightly differently named setting 'Unrestricted by 'Data Saving''. So, yes, having Data Saving switched on is going to have impacted mobile data usage in all apps and hence the use of emails. But your individual app setting of Allow Data Usage will override the Data Saver. Although normal text emails without attachments don't contribute hugely to data usage.

Good to know you found the root cause.

We do appreciate your time in letting us know. Thank you.
