Went to tools, accounts, opened account, advanced settings and removed tick from incoming mail pop3 this server requires a secure connection. it solved problem and emails fine.

You're using a deprecated operating system and deprecated email products that do not support the secure encryption required for TalkTalk Mail.

A few days ago the Mail platform forced your software to reacquire the secure ciphers that were in use up to the point of TalkTalk renewing the security certificate on 14 May. Those out of date ciphers are no longer present so to get your email working you've decided to not use any security encryption at all.

TalkTalk will register this lack of security and in due course will restrict your mailbox to webmail only access.

The workaround is to either use webmail or to download Thunderbird that for now still offers support for use on Windows 7 and provides the required security encryption to TLS 1.2.
