Not receiving emails

I am able to receive emails in Webmail but they are not downloading to my Mac Inbox. I am getting the error message: "Could not connect to the POP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct info in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the 'Use SSL' checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences". I have not changed any of my settings recently so am puzzled. If I deselect SSL will this compromise my security? Thank you in anticipation of a solution.

Screenshot the server settings for your MAC and tell us what Operating system the MAC uses.

I've hidden the screenshot from view to protect your personal data. The image didn't show the incoming and outgoing server settings but the Operating System version told me what I needed to know. Unfortunately, the El Capitan MacOS 10.11 does not support the security protocol required for TalkTalk Mail which is why you saw the 'security' error message.

Can you upgrade the software to a newer version and at least to MacOS 10.12 Sierra? The Sierra OS and all later OS versions do offer TLS 1.2 encryption that's required for TalkTalk Mail.
