My email password has been changed without my knowledge as I couldn't log in to my account. I have changed the password and have found some scam like emails sent supposedly by me during roughly a one hour window before I changed it. Everything else seemed OK. Not sure what else to do.

Hi Crumpysi

You should scan your email devices to remove potential virus, trojan or other malware that may be responsible for capturing your password.

If your mailbox is migrated to the new look mail platform then you can sign out any unauthorised device.

Assuming you use a desktop browser not a mobile browser
Select the Settings cog icon top right

Select the menu item All settings

In the left side of the modal that opens select Security
Select Sign out of all devices

That will lock out any unauthorised device.

Now you also need to check for Filter rules that a hacker may have set up to spy on your mail messages.

In the left pane select Mail
Scroll down to Rules

If there are any rules that are defined then select the X icon to delete them all.
This is a security precaution as hackers can modify existing rules

Confirm deletion

Now you need to upgrade your password once more. Choose a password that has 12 - 15 multicase letters, added numbers and a symbol.
