we have not been able to add/remove email account for 2? years,

For god's get ift fixed so we can!!!!!!

What advantage (more of a disadvantge to us all) it changing "to cloud" or whatever TT has failed to do yet, going to be to any one?

The Delete and Create functions for TalkTalk Mail accounts was withdrawn in July 2023. We have not been briefed on when those functions may be returned.

You can give instructions for mailbox deletion to the TalkTalk Data Protection Office team.

See the GDPR help page item 'Your Right to be Forgotten / Right to Erasure '. There's a postal address, which in my view is the best way to contact the Data Protection team, but you can initiate a contact via any of the TalkTalk contact methods.

As for creating a new email address there are plenty of free services and paid for services to choose from. Best to have a non-ISP email address for backup and email recovery and of course to be not tied to an ISP when you wish to switch broadband supplier.
