We have a 92 year old friend who had the same thing, I have just had a look at her email settings and found that someone had redirected all incoming email to a gmail account which she does not own, and sent emails were being deleted. If you can log into your email have a look in settings, all settings, rules.

someone has hacked into my email. I changed my password and noticed my address book is emptying I cannot receive or send emails. Friends have received emails with weird messages, like "I am sick, or would like them to buy something for me and forward it to me" which were not from me.

Hi SylviaMathieu, I've disabled the mail forward in your webmail. You need to run a good quality Anti Virus and Malware scanner on all your internet connected devices. Then reset the password for that mailbox.
