This number has been messaging me daily borderline harassment +44 7378 905544 I have gone on chat with TT who have said this number had nothing to do with them so today I asked them to send me an email and I have not been willing to give them any of my information so was shocked when an email arrived however I’m seeing that TT emails have a gold padlock which this email did not and this is enough to send someone to a psych ward for to utter paranoia this is causing me the email format was TalkTalkReply@talktalkplc.com whack after googling says this is not talk talk please can anyone help as this is driving me crazy tia

A quick google search shows this number as being fake.

TalkTalk have also confirmed it is a scam to you, so I'm not sure what more you expect TalkTalk to be able to do?

Block the phone number and send the email to spam.

If you ever have doubts about any contact it's wise, as you did, to phone and ask.

Do not engage with them as this only increases the likelihood of further scam messages as it lets the scammers know your phone number and email address are in use.

And definitely do not click on any link contained within any suspicious message or mail as it can severely compromise your phone or computer.

"talktalkreply@talktalkplc.com" used to be a valid TalkTalk email address.

TalkTalk used to use it, when replying to a customer complaint.

Doesn't the content of the email make sense with previous communication with TalkTalk?

No the email made no sense to me as I have mentioned the number that keeps messaging me saying I’ve made a complaint which I had not and because at the start I genuinely thought this was TT so I was conversing with them but when they kept asking for my information I became suspicious so would not tell them anything so they then said 2 months ago they’d have to send a letter as can no longer chat without my information needless to say a letter never ever arrived but they kept msgn me about the outcome of the complaint I never made so asked them to send me an email with the information,now looking back on some of these emails I have noticed they have not even used correct name on account on some emails and legit emails I’ve received from talk talk has ended with

Talk talk team but the one today ended with

Billy and another with the name

Thank you for the reply however it was not the phone number I’m asking about as was told it was not talk talk it’s the email address I’m querying as every email I receive from TT has had the same format of

TalkTalkReply@talktalkplc.com so I’m just so confused how a scam can have access to my actual email address,,yes I’m old and confused by technology but this is genuinely making me go crazy

@Pisdoffcustomer my original advice holds.

Block the number and email address.

They were trying to get your details for some reason (probably to compromise your devices and gain access to financial accounts) and as you say you had no outstanding issues, it's a scam

I just don’t understand how or why they would actually have my name number and my email address yes I’m old and not good with technology and it’s just so hard to differentiate the scams to the real,,they also told me numerous things about my account and my contract I’m just so confused and tbh I find it quite rude to say you don’t know what I expect TT to do when I’m not asking you to do anything when I’m just looking for advice so yes i found that to be a little disrespectful when this is causing me genuine paranoia and just because im older and don’t fully understand technology you was rude!!

@Pisdoffcustomer I'm sorry if you felt I was rude. I was trying to ascertain what you were looking for by posting on what is a help forum, to resolve issues you have with TalkTalk.

You yourself have already ascertained by phoning this was nothing to do with TalkTalk, hence my question on what you were looking for.

I also gave you advice, having done some research on the phone number you supplied, found it to be fake, hence my advice. I also gave additional advice not to interact with the scammers.

I'm still not sure what you expect TalkTalk to do here, no disrespect intended, other than to reiterate what I @Billx , and the advice given to you on the phone.

If there is something I am missing here please let us know.

Blocking them from contacting you going forward was intended as advice to give you peace of mind. Only you can do this, not TalkTalk.

I hope this clarified my intentions.

did the spammers/criminals send you?

Yes, since you are not using the Complaints department, you can and should block that email address, by logging into TalkTalk webmail, at https://apps.talktalk.co.uk/appsuite/

Here's a few steps to do that:

Click the Cogwheel
Click 'All settings'
Scroll down, until you see, 'Access Lists'
Click 'Access Lists', Click 'Blocklist', Click 'Add new address'
In the new window, add TalkTalkReply@talktalkplc.com , Click 'Add'
Exit TalkTalk webmail
