Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication for Email Account

I followed the instructions provided in the community article "Multi-Factor Authentication" at https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Multi-Factor-Authentication/ta-p/3018332 but when I log in to my talktalk webmail account I get straight in without receiving a code. I've cleared my browser cache. Should I just wait until tomorrow maybe?

Hi @Rich57 any changes or add ons done on myaccount does take up to 24hours to be effective or show. We can just wait until tomorrow. If you are still not receiving the code then. kindly let us know and we will be able to assist you further.

is about when logging into 'MyAccount' with MFA.

Logging into TalkTalk email addresses, is separate from logging into 'MyAccount'.

So, I would expect having set MFA on 'MyAccount', will have no effect on logging into TalkTalk webmail.

To set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your TalkTalk webmail account, follow these steps:

Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on TalkTalk Webmail

Log into Your TalkTalk Account:
- Go to the TalkTalk website and log in to your account using your email address and password.
Access Account Settings:
- Once logged in, navigate to the dropdown menu under "Profile & Settings."
- Select My Details & Passwords.
Go to Account Security:
- Under your account details, find and select the Account Security tile.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication:

Thanks for your reply. This process looks the same as the one I mentioned so I don't understand how it works to set up 2fa on my webmail. When I log in to webmail, I see options to Edit personal data, Update reset details, Manage cookies but I don't see the Profile & Settings option that I see on My Account. I've already followed the process of MFA for My Account - why would I need to redo that?

After admitting that the procedure in https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Multi-Factor-Authentication/ta-p/3018332 is for the purpose of establishing 2FA for MyAccount, i.e. 1 website, the TalkTalk website, which is used to log in to MyAccount, @Mandisa-TT goes ahead and repeats that procedure, in order establish 2FA for other websites.

That definitely can't be done.

One doesn't establish 2FA for every website you log in, in a single use of a procedure.

One has to establish 2FA for each and every website you want to log in with 2FA, using the email address, you usually use to log in.

Edit: So, @Rich57 , the question is, which website are you currently wanting 2FA for.

Edit 2: MFA is is more properly called 2FA. I don't think there is such a thing as 3-factor authentication.

Edit 3: As far as logging into your TalkTalk webmail with 2FA, no, there is no procedure to do that.

@Rich57 It seems as if this is impossible with emails hence, I have asked if you were able to do it before. Only MyAccount has this security feature.

These days, one usually has to use an email address to log in to a website. It wasn't always the case.

What is not possible currently, is to log in to the TalkTalk webmail website, with 2FA. As is very usual now, logging into any website, you must still use an email address to log in to it.
