I followed the instructions provided in the community article "Multi-Factor Authentication" at https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Multi-Factor-Authentication/ta-p/3018332 but when I log in to my talktalk webmail account I get straight in without receiving a code. I've cleared my browser cache. Should I just wait until tomorrow maybe?

Hi @Rich57 the MFA you have setup is for your myaccount, thank you Bill.

To set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your TalkTalk webmail account, follow these steps:

Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on TalkTalk Webmail

Log into Your TalkTalk Account:

Go to the TalkTalk website and log in to your account using your email address and password.

Access Account Settings:

Once logged in, navigate to the dropdown menu under "Profile & Settings."

Select My Details & Passwords.

Go to Account Security:

Under your account details, find and select the Account Security tile.

Enable Multi-Factor Authentication:

Confirm that you want to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This will redirect you to download an authentication app if you haven't already.

Download an Authenticator App:

You can use either the Auth0 Guardian App or Google Authenticator. Download the app from your device's app store.

Scan the QR Code:

After downloading the app, open it and scan the QR code presented on the TalkTalk website. This step links your account to the app.

Backup Codes:

During the setup, you will receive recovery codes. Make sure to write these down and keep them in a safe place. They will be useful if you need to log in without your device.

Complete the Setup:

Once the app is set up and linked, you will be prompted to enter a six-digit code generated by the app to confirm the setup.

Test the Two-Factor Authentication:

Log out of your account and log back in to ensure that the two-factor authentication is working correctly. You should be prompted to enter the code from your authenticator app.

Important Notes

Keep Your Device Handy: You will need your phone with the authenticator app to log in.

Secure Your Backup Codes: Store them securely, as they are essential for account recovery.

By following these steps, you can successfully set up two-factor authentication for your TalkTalk webmail account, enhancing its security.

Thanks for your reply. This process looks the same as the one I mentioned so I don't understand how it works to set up 2fa on my webmail. When I log in to webmail, I see options to Edit personal data, Update reset details, Manage cookies but I don't see the Profile & Settings option that I see on My Account. I've already followed the process of MFA for My Account - why would I need to redo that?

Richard

I don't think there is such a thing as 3-factor authentication.

Edit 3: As far as logging into your TalkTalk webmail with 2FA, no, there is no procedure to do that.

Bill
