Despite clicking on "report as spam" when I get spam emails, I'm continuing to receive them from the same senders. How can I tighten up my spam prevention settings to send these messages straight to the spam folder?

If there is a similarity between them, as you say, the sender or their domain, right click on one of them and select create rule. The create it where the sender includes and type that in, and select send to spam or add rule send to folder and select spam.

The actual way to create a rule varies between programs but hopefully the above will help you when you find the create rule action within your emails.
