&lt;P&gt;Thanks for checking that for us. Since Webmail is working fine, the issue is isolated to the Mail app on your iMac. When the outgoing server shows as Offline, it usually means the app is unable to connect to the TalkTalk SMTP server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As it’s not a TalkTalk platform, we’re unable to run any diagnostics or checks on the Mail app itself, but we can guide you through the settings that usually resolve this type of problem.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Unable to send replies to emails on my iMac but can send replies on my iPad. The settings on my my imac haven;'t been changed by me , yet the outgoing emails setting is permanently on offline. I have restarted the application on my imac but it switched back in seconds&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please advise&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Since Mail app is still showing the outgoing server as Offline, removing the TalkTalk account from the Mail app and adding it again usually refreshes the connection.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;H3&gt;&lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":white_heavy_check_mark:"&gt;✅&lt;/span&gt; No — you will not lose your email folders or saved emails.&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;IMAP stores all your emails and folders on the TalkTalk server, not on the device.&lt;BR /&gt;Removing the account from your iMac simply removes the &lt;I&gt;connection&lt;/I&gt; — not the actual emails.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;When you add the account back in, the Mail app will:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;reconnect to the TalkTalk server&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;re‑sync all your folders and emails&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;restore everything exactly as it appears in Webmail&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;H3&gt;&lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":warning:"&gt;⚠️&lt;/span&gt; Only exception&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If the account was set up using &lt;STRONG&gt;POP&lt;/STRONG&gt; (older method), then emails may have been downloaded and stored locally on the iMac.&lt;BR /&gt;Most users are on IMAP, but it’s worth checking.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;H3&gt;&lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":backhand_index_pointing_right:"&gt;👉&lt;/span&gt; To check if you’re using IMAP or POP:&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;On your iMac Mail app:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;OL&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;Open &lt;STRONG&gt;Mail&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;Click &lt;STRONG&gt;Mail&lt;/STRONG&gt; (top left) → &lt;STRONG&gt;Settings&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;Select &lt;STRONG&gt;Accounts&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;Choose your TalkTalk email&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;Look for &lt;STRONG&gt;Account Type: IMAP&lt;/STRONG&gt; or &lt;STRONG&gt;POP&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
