This is our guide to using CallSafe, which is our free security feature that helps to keep unwanted callers at bay. To learn more about this service take a look at About CallSafe. Manage your Approved List on your home phone
Add or remove the last number that called you:
- Dial 1 4 7 2 from your TalkTalk landline
- Press 1
- CallSafe will play the last number that called you. If it was withheld, CallSafe will tell you
- Press 1 to edit your Approved List
- Press 1 to add the number to your Approved List
- Press 2 to remove the number from your Approved List
- CallSafe will confirm your changes
- Press 1 to add or remove another number
- Press 2 to finish and save your changes
Add or remove a new number:
- Dial 1 4 7 2 from your TalkTalk landline
- Press 2
- Dial the full phone number you’d like to add or remove, including any area codes
- CallSafe will play the number back to you
- If the number is correct, press 1. If you made a mistake, press 2 and dial it again
- Press 1 to edit your Approved List
- Press 1 to add the number to your Approved List
- Press 2 to remove the number from your Approved List
- CallSafe will confirm your changes
- Press 1 to add or remove another number
- Press 2 to finish and save your changes
Manage your Blocked List in My Account
Any numbers you were already blocking with Last Caller Barring are automatically added to your Blocked List.
To add a new number to your Blocked List:
- Log into My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu.
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Make sure the Blocked tab is selected
- Now select Add a blocked number
- A new window will open. Type in the phone number you'd like to add to your Blocked List. You can also add a name if you'd like
- When you're happy, select the Block number button
To remove a number from your Blocked List in My Account:
- Log into My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu.
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Make sure the Blocked tab is selected
- Scroll down the page
- Find the number you want to remove from your list of saved numbers
- To the right of the number, select the Remove button

Switching CallSafe on and off
To switch CallSafe on, simply dial 1 4 7 2 from your TalkTalk landline, then press 1.
You can also switch it on in My Account:
- Login to My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu.
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Your CallSafe status will be shown as Off
- Select Manage under CallSafe Status
- A new window will open, Select the button 'Switch CallSafe on'.
To switch CallSafe off you'll have to do this in My Account, follow these steps below.
- Login to My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Your CallSafe status will be shown On
- Select Manage under CallSafe Status
- A new window will open, Select the button 'Switch CallSafe off'.
If you think you might want to switch it back on in future, please make note of your Blocked and Approved numbers.
Even with CallSafe off, you can block any unwanted callers using our free Last Caller Barring feature. However, the numbers on your CallSafe Blocked List will not be transferred over to Last Caller Barring, so please make sure you bar them again by dialling 1 4 2 5 8 from your landline.
What to do with a screened caller
When a caller is screened, you’ll hear a recording of their voice saying their name. CallSafe will then give you the following options:
- Press 1 to accept the call and add the caller to your Approved List
- Press 2 to accept the call on a one-time basis, so the caller is screened again the next time they call
- Press 3 to reject the call and add the caller to your Blocked List
- Hang up to end the call without putting the caller on either List
Your Approved List in My Account
Numbers you call frequently and numbers in your Calling Circle are automatically added to your Approved List.
Here's how to add a new number to your Approved List:
- Log into My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Make sure the Approved tab is selected
- Now select Add an approved number
- A new window will open. Type in the phone number you'd like to add to your Approved List. You can also add a name if you'd like
- When you're happy, click the Approve number button
To remove a number from your Approved List in My Account:
- Log into My Account
- Choose Offers & Upgrades in the navigation menu
- Select Packages & Add-Ons from the drop-down menu, then choose Manage CallSafe
- Make sure the Approved tab is selected
- Scroll down the page
- Find the number you want to remove from the list
- To the right of the number, select the Remove button
