Before getting started, it's a good idea to test your username and password in webmail, to make sure they're correct. Use the forgotten password link on the website to reset your password if you're having any issues logging in. It's recommended that you have the latest OS version on your device, the below steps are for devices with Mac Mail.
Before changing your settings, we recommend that you back up your email data files on your device. For more information on how to do this check your software/app provider for instructions. Our recommendation is to use IMAP rather than POP3 settings, as this will ensure a copy of your emails is retained on our Mail server, as well as on your local device.

OLDER DEVICE/IOS?
Is your device using an older version of iOS and unable to update to latest version. Check out our email setup instructions for older versions of iOS, here's some steps to check which version your device has:
- Open Settings
- Select General
- Select About and look for Software Version

- Open Settings
- Select Passwords & Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Select Other
- Add Mail Account
- On this page you need to complete the following sections:
Name - Your name needs to go in here
Email - Enter your email address
Password - This is your email password
- You will see the IMAP summary page, Select Save

- Open Settings
- Select Passwords & Accounts
- Select your email address
- Verify the Incoming Mail Server;
Host Name - mail.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
If you make any changes, select Done then continue to step 5
- Verify the Outgoing Mail Server settings;
Select Outgoing Mail Server section, then SMTP, then Primary Server which is most likely called smtp.talktalk.net
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
Authentication - Password
Server Port - 587
- Select Done
iOS 10
ADDING A NEW ACCOUNT
- Select Settings
- Select Mail
- Select Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Select Other
- Select Add Mail Account
- Enter your account details
Name - Your name needs to go in here
Email - Enter your email address
Password - This is your email password
Description - A name for the account on your device
- Select IMAP then enter the following server settings;
Verify the Incoming Mail Server settings;
Host Name - mail.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
Verify the Outgoing Mail Server settings;
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
Username - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
- Select Save

Verify the Incoming Mail Server settings;
Host Name - mail.talktalk.net

If you make any changes, select Done then continue to next step

Select Outgoing Mail Server then select SMTP then the name of the Primary Server which is most likely marked smtp.talktalk.net

- Select Done

- Select Settings
- Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select Add Account
- Select Other
- Select Add Mail Account
- Enter your account details

Email - Enter your email address

Description - A name for the account on your device
- Select Next
- Select IMAP then enter the following server settings;
Incoming Mail Server
Host Name - mail.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
Outgoing Mail Server
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address
Password - This is your email password
- Select Save

- Open Settings
- Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select your email address
- Verify the Incoming Mail Server
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address

If you make any changes, select Done then continue to next step
- Verify the Outgoing Mail Server settings
Select Outgoing Mail Server, then select SMTP, then Primary Server which is most likely marked smtp.talktalk.net
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
User Name - This is your email address

Authentication - Password
Server Port - 587
- Select Done
Add mail account
- Open Settings
- Select Mail
- Select Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Select Other
- Add Mail Account
- On this page you need to complete the following sections:
Name - Enter your name
Email - Enter your email address
Password - This is your email password
- You'll see the IMAP summary page, tap Save
- From the accounts page select the Talktalk email account
- Select Account from the IMAP list, this should show your new address
- We need you to update your Incoming Mail Server settings, to do this select Advanced
- Go to the Incoming Settings entries section
Use SSL - set this to ON (green) - this can be done by sliding the button to the right, this should set the Server Port value to 993
Note - if the server port is not set to 993, select that field and change to 993
- Select Account, this should take you back to the Account page for your talktalk email address
- Select Done, this will save your new Mail settings. Note if your changes fail to save then go back to step 10
- Changes are complete you can close settings
Check settings
- Open Settings
- Select Mail
- Select Accounts
- Select your email address
- Select Account again
- To verify your Outgoing Mail Server Settings
Select SMTP
Select Primary server, this should be smtp.talktalk.net
- Your settings should be;
Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
Username - your full email address
Use SSL is set to ON (green) - slide the bar to right if not green
Server port is 587 - to change select the field and edit the number to 587
Once complete select Done, this will verify your settings if changed
- Then select Account
- To verify your Incoming Mail Server settings, Select Advanced
- Your settings should be;
SSL should be set to ON (green) - slide the bar to the right if not green
Server port is 993 - to change, select the field and edit the number to 993
- Once completed Select Account
- Select Done, this will verify your settings, if correct you will see blue ticks alongside your new settings
