There has been widespread disruption across the UK over the past week as a result of Storm Ciara and this weekend with storm Dennis. The worst affected areas have seen heavy rainfall and gusts of over 90 mph causing the evacuation of homes, widespread damage, power outages, major disruption to travel and the cancellation of sporting fixtures. The Met Office has issued over 200 flood warnings across the UK.
Severe weather can damage the UK's broadband network in a number of ways. Strong winds can cause telegraph poles to snap or blow over and flooding can damage the electrical equipment in green cabinets and telephone exchanges.
Openreach have confirmed the following areas are currently affected by the severe weather, customers in these areas may experience a delay with faults getting resolved:

As always during these situations, safety is their top concern and they are prioritising damage to poles and wires in order to protect the public.
