Hello. My contract is ending soon and I am thinking of changing my broadband internet provider. What do I have to do to finish the contract?

If you join an Openreach serviced provider, request that your phone number be transferred, assuming you want to keep it, and they will do the rest for you, @Slabra. Keep the Direct Debit set up, until you get a final bill for £0.00.

 

Expect a demand for the return of equipment.

 

If you switch to Virgin, you must do the cancellation with Talktalk yourself. 

 

Make sure that you are within the last 30 days of your contract, or you'll be charged early termination fees. They will need 30 days' notice if you leave it till after your contract expires.
