Tried the normal route multiple times for various browsers.
code sent to phone. accepted then change password meets criteria but always returns an error at the top

Sorry for the delay,
Can you try and register again for My Account www.talktalk.co.uk/login/
This will then allow you to add a new passowrd.

I think I'll move this to the billing section, if it's to do with the password for your My Account.
That is probably a more relevant message board.
I'll re-escalate it for staff attention there, and also draw it to the attention of @Gondola CS, who is clever with password issues.

OK thank you for the information @Gliwmaeden2 , I have updated the community profile online. I am waiting now for the solution from the staff people. I hope so I will get it soon.

Please add your Talktalk landline number to your community forum profile details, @Anna101, for staff to identify your account.
