Broadband slowed down since mid December

Hello,

I noticed my Broadband getting very slow in mid December and unfortunately it has

not picked up speed since.

Just did another speedtest which shows:

ping 35, download 4.04 mbps , upload 0.76 mbps.

compared to my usual speed of 7mbps, this is rather slow & frustrating....

Hopefully somebody can help my with this issue;-)

Thanks,

Dixi Chicken

Hi mine did exactly the same in November I chatted on line to be told I’m using to many devices at the same time and was offered the 64 mbps upgrade as my contract was ending in February, as we were going on holiday in December for 4 weeks I declined .

Today 15 January was the first time in 30 days we have logged on ....still slow went onto chat you can get 64mbps tomorrow if you sign up ...no there’s only 1 iPad online at the moment just give me the 34mbps I’m paying for. Ho! Well have to send you to tech department after checks we’ll have to send engineer to your house £40-60 to check for faults ???

question how can you upgrade me tomorrow on new contract 64mbps  without a engineer calling.............so after a long long time with Talk Talk it’s time to switch providers as it’s cheaper than calling out engineers!

will let you know if new providers need an engineer to supply the speed I pay for

bye bye talktalk

Hi Dixi Chicken

I'm really sorry to hear this.

I've completed a line test which has detected a possible fault.

Are you experiencing any faults with the landline service when making calls? (noise on the line)

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for your speedy reply 😉
No noises on the landline.
Phone seems to be fine.
Just  the broadband slowing down

Hi Dixi Chicken

Thanks for your reply.

Is the router also connected at the test socket?

I can then raise this fault over to our Network Team for investigation.

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

BT Openworld have been this morning, working across the road..

Broadband & Phoneline was off for 40 minutes, so they must have done something;-)

Just done a speedcheck, and it shows :

Ping 17, Download 7.03, upload 0.85

Some improvement obviously;-)

I don't think that I can expect better speed without having Fibre...

Thanks again Debbie!!!!

Speed check just now:

ping 17 download: 8.45 upload : 0.92

Fastest I ever had 🥳

that is WiFi , not Ethernet connection..

Thanks Debbie,

Hi Dixi Chicken I’ve now left talktalk and never needed an engineer I’m getting 63.62 mps now, with my previous talktalk fast fibre I was getting 1.5 - 2.3 mps and was needing an engineer to come to my home obviously I did not need an engineer I don’t know what’s happened to talktalk but after about 10 years with them they had turned into a really poor supplier

Hi,

are you addressing me or the community..;-))

Anyway, I am glad that you sorted it out;-)

I am not on Fibre, just unlimited Broadband, which has served me well

over the years, both speed and price wise.

You will experience "hiccups" with every broadband supplier over time,

but this forum has helped me tremendously, with someone from the

community team getting in touch and helping to sort my problems!!

Good luck with your newly acquired Broadband;-)
