Help! Broadband drops connection whenever it rains. Fault has started in last few days. Whenever it rains, router green lights for broadband connection go off, then red, and after a few minutes comes back on, not the most helpful when working from home.

Hi David

Thanks for confirming this.

As the line tests are clear we will need to arrange an engineer visit to the property (they will also complete investigations on the line outside)

I'm just sending you a Private Message to confirm some details so we can arrange this visit.

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

I don't tend to use the line for calls and haven't checked this yet. Will wait for it to rain again before checking... Sure that won't be long.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David

Apologies for this.

Do you experience any noise on the line when making calls? (when it rains)

Thanks

New router fitted, every time in rains the router displays a red light and all signal is lost. A few minutes later it reconnects. This is not a stable reliable service.

Hi David

The replacement router is on its way, please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive.

Let us know how the connection compares with this router.

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for your reply.

The router appears to be otherwise working well; although I have had it now for almost three years. Happy to try that first.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David

Thanks for your reply.

Would you like me to send a replacement router first for testing to rule out any possible router faults or would you prefer for me to arrange an engineer visit?

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

Unfortunately for this it is sunny and was three hours ago.

There is a slight crackling on the line now, haven't tried when raining.

Router lights change to red when it rains, connection drops for a few minutes (2-10) and then re-establishes connection. Has happened every time there has been a new rain shower this week.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David

I'm sorry to hear this.

I've completed a line test which hasn't detected any faults.

Is it raining at the moment? Do you experience any noise on the line when making calls?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi @DavidKingston ,

For one of the TalkTalk staff on this community to be able to look into this you will need to update your community profile to include your name, landline telephone number that your TalkTalk service is provided on & an alternative contact number. This will allow them to identify you, and they will then be able to help.

Don't post any personal details in this thread, just add them to your community profile.

Then they will hopefully be able to respond to this post tomorrow.
