Hi, I'm not sure if im on the best profile or what but I possibly would like a request to reset the DLM and optimize the connection, thanks.

If you check your router stats and post them here that will give us an idea.

I am using the Billion 7800 router, I also have a Archer VR900 around my place somewhere but cant find it, thought that would probably help a little bit too

Actually it says 8800NL

OK, thanks for that. The SNR does seem set very high, can you give us a bit more information about your internal setup, especially whether you have more than one phone socket and if your router is connected at the master socket. Also, are you aware of any issues with your landline service such as noise on the line?

Subject to that the support team here will gladly look into this for you, make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk landline number are complete on your community profile here so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond.

I tried adjusting the SNR manually with one of the settings built into the router to I could influence the profile change myself but it doesnt seem to work, well I have a 0.5m adsl wire thats going from the router to the small d-link microfilter straight into the test socket and like a 1/2m ethernet cable then going into my computer, I dont use the landline unless I really need to it's usually turned off, my router is actually connected to an extension socket from the master if thats what you mean but I dont think that would stop a better profile change from where it is now? I prefer G.dmt than ADSL2+ because it seems just better stability

powered* from the extension socket with multiple other ones plugged in, I assume you meant the faceplate, my bad

OK, the problem is if you have a router where you can tweak the SNR settings yourself is that it will not necessarily reveal any underlying issues. Do you have a TalkTalk router which you can connect temporarily whilst any checks take place?

I havent tried to do that for a while and just left it the way it should be for a couple of months but when I did try it like I did when I was with sky it didn't work so was no benefit to that option everything is fine I guess would just like to try my luck resetting the DLM and optimising it and see what happens

Community Team

Hi Acebull,

I've optimised the connection now, please let us know how the speed compares over the next 24hrs.

Thanks

I think I might be on the best profile or just locked right now because my attainable rate is considerably higher, if only SNR could be tweaked or something but it can't

Hi Acebull,

Current sync speed is 7.8Mbps, Your ADSL mode is G.DMT which will limit your speed. If you set the ADSL mode in your router to auto this should improve your speed

I am on ADSL2+ instead of G.DMT but im stuck on like 12mb when my attainable rate is nearly 16mb, why is it stuck and can anything be done to force a change? maybe reset everything to how it was and reoptimize things, my setup is perfect, thanks.

Can you post your current router stats as you did earlier? You certainly seem to be getting near to the rate which your attenuation suggests, the "attainable" rate will always be artificially high as this does not take into account any overheads.

I had the same stats as when I was with sky, unless it's connected to a different exchange Idk but DLM would shoot me right up to 20mb+ if I had left DLM for like a week or 2 and there was consistent profile changes, I used to get a few profile changes when I joined talktalk but I'm not sure if something has gone wrong, it would be cool to reset it all and let it do the same thing or something

OK, your SNR margin is still a wee bit above the target of 6dB. Forgive me if you have been asked, or done this before, but can you try connecting at the test socket and see if that improves things? Your connection is definitely on an upward track though, so let's see what the OCE have to say when they check from their end again.

Community Team

Hi Acebull,

Thanks for the update. I can see that DLM has increased the sync speed. How have you found the performance of the connection?

Thanks

DLM hasn't taken affect on my profile for months, if it's disconnecting a decent bit that was me trying to change a few things to benefit my profile but it seems that I'm locked/banded in this profile and nothing can be done, speed goes up a maximum of about 200/300 kbs if I switch back to the test socket
