I'v been notified my new HG635 needs a firmware or software update.
I'm unable to download pictures to my mobile, which I could do with the previous router.
I understand this is done after raising a new message. Is this correct?

I know you are getting a replacement router, so this doesn't really matter now, but just for info, you are free to change the router password if you want to. TalkTalk access your router in a totally different way, so changing those details won't prevent them doing anything they need to do.

For other newbies, this is how I found the installed firmware on my HG635 router:
With the help of Skynet_TX's diagram above,
I accessed my TalkTalk Router by entering the IP Address of the router in the address line of my web browser.
This IP Address is on the info label on the back of the router. Usually 192.168.1.1
Enter the Router Username, as shown on the Info label below the IP Address
Enter the Router Password, as shown on the Info label below the IP Address
Select Maintain Button, top right.
Then select System Information
Should I change the Router Username and Password for security, or would that stop TalkTalk from being able to access my router to update firmware?

Ok managed to find out how to access router, (thanks Skynet_TX).
Firmware is v1.13t
Would this cause the problem I have, unable to download pictures on mobile phone, but could on previous router?

The firmware should be v1.14t, check if it has updated.

If this is a new router that you have only recently connected then you will probably find that the firmware will update automatically overnight within a few nights. However if it doesn't update automatically then the staff here on the community will be able to update it for you, they should be able to respond to this post within a day or two.
